The Revel Switch - Anyway Hello
Updated: Dec 8, 2019

Led by veteran singer/songwriter Alex Miller, The Revel Switch has been a fixture on New York City's underground music scene since the release of their debut album in 2012. Embracing disparate genres from shoe gaze to alt-country, they draw heavily from the past while pushing their sound into modern times. With their new album 'Anyway Hello,' they put a spotlight on everything they do best, resulting in a sprawling collection of ambitious genre-hopping songs, held together by Miller's powerful songwriting.
On opening track "Burning LA," Miller channels NYC legends Lou Reed and Television to deliver a passionately nonchalant performance. The track sets the tone for the rest of the album with a mixture of directly emotional appeals and stream of conscious lyrics that give the music a surreal feeling.
"Wild Feeling" expands on the otherworldly atmosphere, with programmed drums blending naturally into a warbling wall of electric guitars, recalling peak era My Bloody Valentine while emphasizing Miller's own gift for building his own unique atmosphere through music.
"Anyway Hello" is a triumphant display of sonic exploration, unafraid of taking risks, and embracing a vulnerability and versatility that is becoming increasingly rare in the indie rock world. By the end of the album it feels as if the listener has been on a journey that is often unpredictable, but always rewarding.
"Anyway Hello" is available Nov. 15, 2019.
