Four Questions With Lady Zenaida

1. Tell us a little about your background in the circus? How has that influenced your music career?

I started with the circus when I began to flourish into a fae. Faeries are meant to fly, so naturally, I'm a flyer. My first circus discipline was fire poi, and then aerial silks. I then fell into circus rabbit hole. Flower sticks, 3 club juggling, adagio, tumbling, flying trapeze, stilts, contortion. Since then I’ve performed in multiple festivals, events, schools, & movie sets. Allowing me to finally be a full time performer, paying my rent & expenses during 2016-2020. How has Circus influenced me as a musician? A plenty! I’ve sung with a ukulele strapped to my torso while hanging upside down from my 1 knee on an aerial hoop, 10 feet above ground with no mats or safety wire. I love multi- tasking! what can I say?

2. What inspires your songwriting? Do you feel that you have an overall message you’re trying to convey?

I’ve lived harsh moments, I’ve lived magical moments, the journey between the good days and the tough days is what inspires my poetry. The expression of the miracles, the blessings, and the bloody rants. I especially love it when friends incite me to write a song inspired by their story or particular challenge., this allows me to push boundaries, and tell new stories. I’m a musical storyteller.

3. What changes would you like to see in the music world? What about the world at large?

I’d like to see an honest and fair music industry that honors & supports it’s artists. i’m tired of seeing women objectified and overly sexualized. I want to bring back a sense of marvel, love & wonder for the natural world. How our overall health depends on the earth’s health, balance and wellbeing. I’d like to see free humans, living an abundance, protecting the earth, insuring a home for the next 7 generations.

4. Any additional thoughts you’d like to share with listeners who are new to your work?

You’ll find wisdom in the poetry, it will inspire your wellbeing. The magical essence is the fruit of the journey you’ll embark on when being taken by the waves of a siren’s voice.
