Binary Drift - Pocket Tunes

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

Binary Drift is the solo project of Madrid based songwriter Mauricio

Yrivarren. Spotlighting Mauricio's earnest voice and heartfelt songwriting, it is easy to see why his new album 'Pocket Tunes' is gathering critical praise and winning fans around the world.

Opening track 'All These Years Gone By,' provides the perfect introduction to Binary Drift's talents, with an acoustic hook that Noel Gallagher would have been proud to write. The words are clear and easy to understand, painting an emotional picture that makes an immediate impact.

Following that up with the breezy, 'Complete & Alive,' Mauricio showcases his melodic gifts over an irresistibly laid back groove. He then shows off his Spanish influences with 'Besos De Morfina,' a horn laden number that drips with romance and excitement.

The album's surefire highlight comes in the form of the bossa nova of 'A Song For Vampires.' "Since when did I become the enemy?" Mauricio laments over a hypnotic Brazilian beat. Accompanied by a group of playful flutes, he unfurls his romantic lament in style.

Across the album's 11 tracks, Binary Drift proves to be a versatile artist with a gift for emotional connection. By the closing lullaby of 'The Guilded Age,' he has told a young lifetime's worth of stories, each one of them worth close attention.
